Start of Semester - Get access to your site
Each cohort of a module should be supported by their own Blackboard module site.
Where a module is indicated as running in SITS (i.e. marked active with a module leader) and had a Blackboard site in the previous academic year, then it will be copied forward automatically in June for the new year (e.g. where a 2023/24 module is indicated as running, a copy of the 2022/23 module site will be made). If this is the case, then you will not need to request a Blackboard site to support the module.
Where a module is indicated as running in SITS but did not have a Blackboard site in the previous academic year, a new Blackboard site will be created automatically from a standard template in June for the new year (e.g. where a 2023/24 module is indicated as running but did not have a Blackboard site in 2022/23). If this is the case, then you will not need to request a Blackboard site to support the module.
Any staff member currently on the Blackboard site can enrol you onto it if you ask them. If you are unsure who to ask, you can find out by following the process for requesting a new site - during which you will be told who the module leader for the site is (you can then cancel out of the process).
However, if a module is newly validated or did not copy forward automatically, then you will need to request a new Blackboard site to support the module.
If your module site exists and you are enrolled on but can't see it on the Modules page:
- Make sure you are on the Current Modules page. Module sites are listed alphabetically by module name and are grouped by academic year.
- You can choose to display up to 100 items on a single page.
- Try typing part of the module name or ID in the search box. Search results are dynamic and module sites matching the search criteria will start to appear at the top of the list.
- Is the site hidden? From the Filter drop-down list, select Hidden from me to display the Hidden Modules page. If the modules site has been hidden, move it back to the Current Modules page by clicking the ellipsis and choosing Show module. (And if it is a module site you access frequently, why not make it a favourite and pin it to the top of the page by clicking the star icon once you have moved it back to Current Modules?).
