Getting help with Google Apps

Google Apps for Education provides a number of online tools for staff and students. These include file storage, website creation, and collaborative office tools including a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation tool and an online form creator.

There are a few ways you can access your Sheffield Hallam Google account:

  • The easiest way is via the Blackboard Institution Page in the More key tools and links section and choosing Google Drive.
  • Via go.shu.ac.uk/google and signing in with your Hallam username and password when prompted.
  • Or log in to Google using the email address format yourusername @my.shu.ac.uk, this will take you to the Sheffield Hallam login page where you can enter your Hallam username password.

When logged into your Google Drive account you can access Google Apps by clicking the grid icon in the rop right corner.

Google also provide a variety of resources to help lecturers use the tools, including training guides, recorded webinars and example lesson plans.

If you are interested in using Google Apps in learning, teaching and assessment purposes we recommend having a conversation with the Digital Learning Team, as they can advise you about the best way to set up and use Google Apps (or other tools) to accomplish your teaching goals. If you would like to use Google Apps outside of teaching and learning please contact IT Help for further guidance and support.
